Welcome

The Association Arterre had an idea to continue, in the village of Bioussac, an initiative started in the Chateau de l'Abrègement which has several amazing works from well-known artists Andy GOLDSWORTHY, Antony GORMLEY, Christian LAPIE, Eric SAMAKH and Joel SHAPIRO.

Arterre wanted the whole village to be involved in this project. So in 2004 the first work of contemporary art was established in Bioussac. The 233 inhabitants of the village chose it after a contest brought together dozens of works. It was important that the people of the village felt that the chosen work was appropriate and something they could associate with.

It was the sculptor Arnaud DARNE who allured the inhabitants of the village with " La Grande Souche". The full size version of the sculpture is made of stones that Arnaud DARNE collected from the local fields. It can now be seen near the bread oven in the village of Bioussac.

A new contest, around the topic: "Memory of the Chestnut Tree" takes place from the 12th–20th August 2009 and will also include the planting of chestnut trees around the area of Bioussac.
